Gary Gerould

Gary Gerould is an American sportscaster, best known as the radio voice of the Sacramento Kings since 1985.

Gerould was born in Midland, Michigan and got his start in broadcasting at the age of 15 on a local radio station. [http://www.centralvalleychronicles.org/features/700/721garygerould.htm The Voice of the Sacramento Kings: Gary Gerould] , Central Valley Chronicle, February 13, 2003] He later attended Anderson University in Indiana and upon graduation went to Chico, California work for KHSL Radio, later moving to KCRA-AM and finally to NBC and ESPN, specializing in coverage of the motorsports. He also had the opportunity to cover the 1988 Summer Olympics for NBC Sports.

In 1985 as the Kansas City Kings moved to Sacramento, Gerould was tabbed as their radio play-by-play announcer. During the 2004 NBA Playoffs Gerould completed his 1500th Kings broadcast, ranking him in the top-10 of active NBA announcers. Gerould continues to serve as the Kings play-by-play voice and works with ESPN and ABC Sports serving as a pit reporter for Indy Racing League events, including the Indianapolis 500. He also does reporting coverage of the NHRA series for ESPN and runs his own public relations outfit. His son Bob is also a sports broadcaster.
