Simbal Camp is home to refugees of the 1947 partition who settled in camps and that is from there it derives its name as Camp whereas "Simbal" refers to name of a tree.

Demography

It is a predominantly sikh area. The population is 98% sikh. The language mostly spoken is Punjabi and Poonchi. There is a 98% literacy rate. It has high number of people involved in services. Transport is another important profession. A new elite in the form of desi diaspora also commands a significant following.

Geography

It is located at 20km (12 miles) south-west of Jammu. Surrounded by tavi delta, it is very fertile.

It is one of the prosperous village in the Jammu sector. Simbal camp is connected to Jammu City via Rspura Road. The government is planning to connect the simbal camp to Jammu City via a four way road and construction is progressing.

Simbal camp has a very illustrios history as many people from this region has made remarkable contribution in various spheres of life.Sons of the soil have proved their metal in many a battles,the transporters have acted as lifeline for the state and desi diaspora is bringing dollars and a new sense of well being
