Walter Kolisnyk

Walter Kolisnyk is a farmer and politician in Manitoba, Canada. In the federal election of 2004, he was a candidate of the social-democratic New Democratic Party in the rural Manitoba riding of Dauphin-Swan River.

Kolisnyk operates a grain and cattle farm in Minitonas, a rural municipality. He served as leader of the "Swan Valley Credit Union Board" for five years, and was President of the "National Farmers Union Local 520". During the 2004 election, he was chairman of the board of the "Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation".

Kolisnyk has served as a school trustee on the "Swan Valley Division School Board" for ten years, and was northwest regional director of the "Manitoba Association of School Trustees" for a time. He also spent two years working for Len Harapiak, who was a leading figure in the provincial New Democratic Party during the 1980s.

Dauphin-Swan River was regarded as a safe Conservative seat in the election of 2004. Kolisnyk placed second to Conservative candidate Inky Mark, receiving 7341 votes (about 22% of the total).
