Pan Samochodzik

Pan Samochodzik

Pan Samochodzik (Polish for "Mister Automobile", also known as Tomasz N.N.) is a fictional art historian, journalist, renowned adventurer and historical detective (compared both with Robert Langdon, Dirk Pitt and Indiana Jones) created by Polish writer Zbigniew Nienacki. He is a main character in a series of adventures centering around historical mysteries and treasuers. As a museum and government employee, Pan Samochodzik not only has to discover treasurers, but protect them from thieves. His nickname comes from his fantastic (heavily customized) automobile .

Pan Samochodzik

Pan Samochodzik, or Tomasz N.N. (N.N. likely refers to Nowicki-Nienacki - pseudonym and nickname of his creator, Zbigniew Nienacki), is an employee of Polish Department of Artifact Protection of Ministry of Art and Culture. He is a 'special envoy', with extensive knowledge in the areas of history, solving historical riddles, finding treasures and protecting them from thieves. As such, he is sometimes called 'Polish Robert Langdon, Dirk Pitt and Indiana Jones. He is also a devoted chain smoker.

His nickname comes from unique vehicle: a heavily modified Ferrari 410 SuperAmerica, which can reach top speed and is capable of traversing water and difficult terrain as well.

Recurring characters from "Pan Samochodzik" series

Archenemy of Tomasz N.N. is Waldemar Batura, former art historian, smuggler and thief. Pan Samochodzik is often accompanied by youngsters - often Boy Scouts.

In novels written by authors others than Nienacki features also Paweł Daniec, young art historian, ex-commando and sidekick of main protagonist, and Jerzy Batura, new villain, son and successor of Waldemar.
