"The Amazing Race Asia 2" is the second season of the reality television game show "The Amazing Race Asia". The show features ten teams of two, with a pre-existing relationship, in a race around the world to win US$100,000.

This season premiered on November 22, 2007 at 9PM (UTC+8) and ended on February 14, 2008 at 9PM (UTC+8).

Production

Development and filming

"The Amazing Race Asia 2" covered 50,000 kilometres (32,023 miles) in 24 days. [cite web|url=http://www.axn-asia.com/press/2007/10/22/tara2-begin.html |title= The Second Amazing Race Asia Begins! |accessdate=2007-11-16] This season had teams racing across 4 continents. The show adopted newer rules in the US version, such as the non-elimination penalty where the team who checked in last must make it to first place in the next leg or else incur the 30 minute penalty. Production made the Race more competitive by imposing more self-driving and reducing the chance of teams being bunched up on the same airplane flight.cite web|url=http://www.star-ecentral.com/news/story.asp?file=/2007/12/19/tvnradio/19789496&sec=tvnradio |title= Even more thrills in TARA2|publisher= The Star|accessdate=2007-12-24]

This season of "The Amazing Race Asia" had two different penalties for coming in last on a non-elimination leg. While Edwin & Monica were marked for elimination for coming in last on the first leg, Henry & Terri were stripped of all their money and will begin the next leg with no money after coming in last on the sixth leg. Racers were not told that the original non-elimination penalty was still applicable. This twist led to an argument between Henry and host Allan Wu at the Seoul finish mat, when the former was unwilling to give up his team's money.cite web|url=http://www.alivenotdead.com/allanwu/Where-d+the+Fight+Go---profile-78828.html |title=Where'd the Fight Go??|publisher=Alive Not Dead|publishdate=2008-01-04|accessdate=2008-01-12] In the following leg, the penalty reverted to the 'marked for elimination' penalty after Henry & Terri finished last consecutively.

Marketing

"The Amazing Race Asia 2" had six official sponsors: Aviva, Caltex, Nokia Nseries, Sony Electronics Asia Pacific, Bintan Lagoon Resort and Standard Chartered Bank.cite web|url=http://www.aviva-asia.com/index.cfm?pageid=52 |title="New Teams Race across 4 Continents in Asia and Beyond for a No Holds Barred Season 2 of The Amazing Race Asia!"|publisher=Aviva Asia Online|accessdate=2007-02-16] The sponsors played a major role in the series by providing prizes and integrating their products into various tasks. Two special episodes acted as bookends for this season; the first subtitled "Racers Revealed" was shown three weeks before the season premiere while the second, "Memories" aired one week after the season finale. The former contained racer introductions and production insight into the casting process.cite web|url=http://amazing-race-asia.axn-asia.com/story/351/ |title="The Amazing Race Asia 2 - Racers Revealed - A One Hour Special"|publisher=The Amazing Race Asia|accessdate=2007-02-16] The latter featured the racers sharing their favorite memories and highlights of the Race, similar to that of Season 1.

fnb|1 Brett & Kinaryosih were unable to complete the Detour on Leg 3, since they arrived at the North Shore Rowing Club after business hours-they backed out of the Wall Detour. All remaining teams had checked in, so they were told to go straight to the Pit Stop, where they were eliminated from the Race.
fnb|2 Sophie & Aurelia were unable to complete both the Roadblock and Detour on Leg 4, since they arrived at Okere Falls after closing down for the day. Host Allan Wu arrived at the location to tell them of their elimination.
fnb|3 Leg 5 is a double-length leg and shown over two episodes.
fnb|4 Terri & Henry used their Yield power on Rovilson & Marc who were ahead of them. The Yield had no effect.
fnb|5 Adrian & Collin and Vanessa & Pamela committed errors while arriving at the Pit Stop. They didn't park their vehicles at the designated parking zones and entered through the wrong gates. They had to backtrack to rectify these errors, but those errors did not affect their placements.

*Red means the team was eliminated.
*An underlined Blue means the team was the last to arrive at a pit stop in a non-elimination leg of the race and was thus "marked for elimination", meaning that if that team did not place first on the next leg, they would receive a 30 minute penalty whereas an italicised "Blue" means the team was the last to arrive at a pit stop in a non-elimination leg of the race and had all their money confiscated. They will start at the next leg receiving no money as well.
*A Green ƒ on a team's placement means the team won the Fast Forward clue.
*Matching colors and symbols (+, ^ and ~) indicate teams who worked together during part of the leg as a result of the Intersection route marker.
*A yellow > means that the team who chose to use the Yield; < indicates the team who received it;<> indicates a leg where the Yield was available but not used.
