Features

Jagannadha Alayam

Jagannadha swami of Puru in Orissa god was established here in Palakonda.

Kotadurga Alayam

This is a famous historical temple. Before independence this area was ruled by an Oriya Zamindar family, under the British rule. The Jamindhars lost all their properties due to internal family conflicts. Every thing was ruined and only 2 lakes and remnants of their houses and this durga temple remain at present. Krushna Dash, an Oriya Brahmin from Orissa and a devotee of Durga started worshiping here in 1947. People around Palakonda worshiped the goddess, Ghatalu Bindelu, with turmeric water, and this was the main attraction of folk people. Dassara is the main Thai Pongal (festival) of this temple. Jupadindhu Dash son of Krushna Dash rehabilitated the temple ruin to its original state.
