Rory Markas

Rory Markas (born in Chatsworth, California) is the lead radio play-by-play sports broadcaster for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball team and the men's basketball team of the University of Southern California. Markas also broadcast three Angels games on TV in Toronto on August 14-16, 2007, with former Major League pitcher and current analyst Mark Gubicza.

Markas is currently in his seventh season as the lead radio voice of Angels baseball, and is in his 11th year as the USC Trojans basketball radio voice. In the past, Rory has called baseball games for USC. Markas also works as a field reporter and part-time sports anchor for KTTV, the Fox-owned television station in Los Angeles. Throughout his career, dating back to the early 1980s, Markas has worked for CBS' KNX-AM and KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Clippers radio network, the Milwaukee Brewers television and radio networks, the original Prime Ticket network (now Fox Sports Net West), and the Pacific Coast League's Salt Lake City Gulls and Vancouver Canadians baseball teams. Rory also had a brief stint in Las Vegas as a DJ during the 1980s.

For his broadcasting work, Markas has several awards to his credit, including three Golden Mike Awards (for radio reporting), and two Associated Press Sportcasting Awards.

Markas is an alum of Los Angeles Valley College, California State University-Northridge, and Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth CA. and currently resides in suburban Palmdale, north of Los Angeles.

Markas was also the lead announcer for "RollerJam" from its second season to its last.

Starting with the 2008 season, Markas will also work games on television, with Gubicza as analyst for selected Angels games on FSN West and KCOP-TV. He will continue in his primary role on radio, when fellow broadcasters, Steve Physioc and Rex Hudler, work on the television side.
