The Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) is a Bible translated by Dr. David H. Stern into English. It consists of both a Tanakh translation and his original Jewish New Testament (JNT) translation in one volume. The Tanakh used is a paraphrase of the 1917 Jewish Publication Society version with revisions, and the New Testament is an original translation from the Greek source used in the United Bible Society's Greek New Testament 3rd Edition from the 1970s.[1]
Franz Delitzsch's Hebrew translation of the New Testament
In the late 1800s, Lutheran missionary and Christian Hebraist[2] Franz Delitzsch (with subsequent editors) translated the Greek New Testament into Hebrew[3]. It has been edited and reprinted by modern publishers.
Messianic Prophecy Bible
The Messianic Prophecy Bible Project leaders state their goal of a translation that "will point a clear path toward Yeshua as the Messiah throughout the Old and New Testaments. At the same time, rabbinical misinformation and the arguments of anti-missionaries will be exposed."[4]
The Scriptures (TS98)
The Scriptures (TS98/ISR) published by the Institute for Scripture Research of South Africa is a version that is present in many controversial independent Sacred Name Movement assemblies. It follows a literal style of translation incorporating many Hebrew character and place names, but also employs the Hebrew יהוה, the Tetragrammaton, for God's Name throughout.
The Living Scriptures
The Living Scripture is an adaptation of the Living Bible done by David Bronstein, published in 1982. In it, "Jesus" is written as "Yeshua", "Christ" as "Messiah", "John" as "Yohanan", etc.
The Orthodox Jewish Bible
The Orthodox Jewish Bible is a paraphrase that applies Yiddish and Hasidic cultural expressions to the Messianic Bible.
The Aramaic English New Testament
The Aramaic English New Testament (AENT) published by Netzari Press is a translation based on the Aramaic Peshitta rather than Greek versions of the New Testament. It uses many Hebraic terms and is very apologetic towards Torah observance in its commentary.
Tree of Life Messianic Family Bible
The Tree of Life Messianic Family Bible is the first Messianic translation to be worked on by a team of reputable scholars rather than an individual. Currently, the New Covenant is completed with a scheduled release of the full Bible in 2013. The Tree of Life Bible Website states that their goal is "to render a messianic sensitive text that would be as accurate as the NASB, as reverent as the NKJV and as readable as the NIV." It includes Messianic themed illustrations throughout.
