Battle of Lwów

During its long and complicated history, the city of Lwów (Lviv, Leopolis, Lemberg) was the site of several major battles and sieges. Among the most notable were:

* Battle of Lwów (1648) - Lwów besieged by Cossack forces under Bohdan Khmelnytsky
* Battle of Lwów (1655) - Lwów besieged by the forces of Bohdan Khmelnytsky and the Moscovite army
* Battle of Lwów (1672) - Lwów besieged by the armies of sultan Mehmed IV
* Battle of Lwów (1675) - Ottoman armies defeated by Hussars under John III Sobieski
* Battle of Lwów (1704) - Lwów captured and looted by Sweden during the Great Northern War
* Battle of Lwów (1809) - the city captured from the Austrians by the Polish cavalry
