Santa Clara High School is a comprehensive, co-educational, public high school located in Santa Clara, California, United States. It is one of four high schools in the Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD).

History

The school was established in 1872, and was originally located near Santa Clara University. Santa Clara High's current location was originally that of Buchser High School. In 1982, due to declining enrollment, the Santa Clara Unified School District decided to transform two of its high schools into middle schools. Santa Clara High was moved to the original campus of Buchser, and Santa Clara High's previous campus was renamed Buchser Middle School.

In 1988 and 2001 Santa Clara High School was selected as a California Distinguished School.

During the 1970s Santa Clara High (not Buchser) was well known for being a competitive swimming powerhouse, with close ties to the Santa Clara Swim Club,The Swim Coach, George Haines, was a multi-Olympic Swim Coach. At that time, Santa Clara High and Buchser were bitter rivals, with Santa Clara winning nearly every swim meet.
