Forbes Hall

Forbes Hall

Forbes Hall is a residence hall of the University of Pittsburgh (Oakland campus) and is located in Forbes Pavilion on Forbes Avenue approximately four blocks from the Litchfield Towers complex. A former nursing home, Forbes Hall was renovated and opened to provide living quarters to students in 1978. The University's Health Book Center is also located on the lowest level of Forbes Pavilion, accessible from Forbes Avenue. In addition, the Department of Parking, Transportation, and Services is located in Forbes Pavilion.

Occupying Forbes Hall are a mix of 232 upper-class and first-year men and women in double rooms that are air-conditioned. Some of the doubles have adjoining semi-private bathrooms. There are communal showers, a kitchenette, and a laundry area on each floor. There are Internet kiosks in the lobby of Forbes Hall for use by those with a Pitt user account.

Each floor of Forbes Hall has a study room. A large recreation hall is on the second floor, complete with television, ping-pong and pool table. A 2nd floor rooftop patio overlooks Forbes Avenue with an adjoining indoor patio room. Beginning in the Fall of 2007 semester, Forbes Hall houses the University Honors College program for first-year and upper-class men and women. A resident director, four resident assistants, and custodians are on staff. Forbes Hall is secured by 24-hour entrance security. Forbes Hall is also called Forbes Pavilion by the University, confusing many first year students. Select rooms overlooking Forbes Avenue and Euler Way in the back of the building have small balcony areas accessible by two adjacent rooms.

Dan Marino lived in Forbes Hall during his college days.
