The auksinas was the name given to the ostmark in 1919, at a time when notes issued by Germany and 1000 ost markių notes issued by the "Lietuvos Ūkio Bankas" were in circulation. Plans to issue currency denominated in auksinas and "skatiku" (frac|1|100 auksinas) did not come to fruition and the litas was instead introduced in 1922.
