The most likely cause for this fact, it may be a circumvention (migration) to other more developed regions in their own state, especially the metropolitan region of Salvador and Feira de Santana, and other states, specifically São Paulo.

The population of the Sierra foot is formed mainly by white, brown and black. The white population is composed mostly by descendants of Portuguese settlers, and even a few Spanish and Dutch. The blacks are the descendants of slaves.

The predominant religion in foot of the Sierra is Roman Catholic, but the presence of other religions is already visible, especially the Evangelical.
