Steve Flett is a singer, songwriter and musician best known for his work with the band Ooberman. He is also a member of Ooberon, and has released solo material under the name Phantom 309. He is Ooberman guitarist Andy Flett's brother.

Career

Ooberman

Steve became the third member of the band that was to become Ooberman, joining the partnership of his brother Andy and Dan Popplewell. He has contributed to every Ooberman record to date, and is the only bassist credited on any of the band's releases.

Phantom 309

Steve has released two EPs under the Phantom 309 name - "Different Places" and "Tokyo Rose". The former features two tracks which also turned up in the Ooberman catalogue - "Fly Around The World", which features vocals by Ooberman vocalist Sophia Churney and was released as a b-side to Beany Bean, and "Kill The Rabbit", which was featured in the e-single ZIP file of Heavy Duty. The latter was a radical remix of "Honeydew", a track from Ooberman's Shorley Wall EP. Other released remixes for the band have included "Beeswax" (a reworking of "Bees"), "Stevetrooper" (originally "Stormtrooper"), and the "Pierced Teen Indie Club Mix" of "Running Girl".

Ooberon

Ooberon was a joint venture between Steve and Andy Flett, following Ooberman's 2003 dissolution. Their album was eventually released in 2007, some months after the band's first post-reformation album "Carried Away".

Other work

Steve played bass on a world tour with Echo & The Bunnymen in the early 2000s, and features on their Live in Liverpool album. He also toured with an incarnation of Pete Wylie's [Mighty] Wah.
