The Rolling Stones' Tour of Europe '76 was a concert tour of Continental Europe and Great Britain that took place in Spring 1976.

History

Tickets were in high demand; on 1 April GP Productions announced that the demand for three dates at London's Earls Court was such that they had received more than one million applications in the mail. Subsequently three more dates were added there. [cite book| last=Egan | first=Sean | title=The rough guide to the Rolling Stones | format=Paperback | accessdate=2007-08-17 | publisher=Rough Guides Ltd. | year=2006 | location=London, Great Britain| isbn=1-84353-719-2 | pages=115 ] The routing also saw two dates in Zagreb, Yugoslavia, the Stones' first time in a Communist country since an April 1967 foray to Warsaw.

The tour began a few days after the 23 April release of the group's album "Black and Blue".

The show's live performances tended to be sloppy and rushed. Mick Jagger also slurred his way through some of the numbers, which was his then new way of singing. The shows at Les Abattoirs in Paris from 5 June to 7 June formed much of the basis for the 1977 live album "Love You Live". Tragedy struck the band on the night of the 6 June performance, when Richards was informed by his common law wife, Anita Pallenberg, that their 10-week-old baby Tara had died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
