Burford School is a mixed secondary comprehensive school in Burford, Oxfordshire (England).

Introduction

The school is located at the southern end of Burford. Given that Burford sits at near equal distances from the towns of Witney and Carterton, and close to villages such as the Wychwoods, the school has an unusually large catchment area.

Over a thousand students study at Burford, and numbers are increasing for entrants and applicants to the large and well suited Sixth Form, at which students can study new A-levels such as Law and Economics, amongst others such as English.

Uganda link

The school has a thriving link with Bishop Dunstan School in Kalangala, Ssese Island Uganda. Each two year cycle a group of 14 students visit Uganda and then 14 exchange students return. Links have spread throughout the whole town, and fundraising has achieved the construction of a boarding house and Library in Uganda in previous years.

Boarding house

The school's location provides students with easy and convenient access to Burford, where the Boarding House, Lenthall House (pronEng|ˈlɛnθəl or IPA|/ˈlɛnθɔːl/), is situated. The boarding house accepts many international students, largely from Hong Kong.

Means Of Separation

The students are separated in a general English School System way. Each "Year Group" is divided into 8 or so "Form Groups". These Form Groups have around 30 pupils. The Form Groups will have a Form Tutor, who will register and look after the pupils. The Head Of Year deals with issues between interlinking Form Groups, and as a general looks after the Pupils. The Form Groups have various lessons together, whilst spending some apart based on ability. Subjects such as English, Religious Education and Geography as spent together until Year 10.
