BC Khimki is considered to be one of most important basketball clubs in all of Russia. The team was founded on
January 5th ,1997 , and won the first seasons' championship of its regionalleague , taking the opportunity to earn a place in the Russian Super League. The following year, Khimki positioned itself among the top 10 basketballclub s in the nation of Russia, guaranteeing a birth to theEurope an cup competition theKorac Cup . In the Korac Cup they beat the champions ofTurkey ,Yugoslavia , andBulgaria .The team remained in a middle position in the Russian League until the 2002-03 season. That year the club made an improvement and the team finished in fourth place in the Russian League, demonstrating an excellent style of game. During the subsequent years, the Russian high society behind the club decided to make the roster even stronger, by signing players such as
