Twinbrook ( _ga. Cill Uaighe; meaning "church of the grave") is an electoral ward of
Lisburncity council currently part of West Belfastparliamentary constituency. It was created in 1985 after the large Collin ward was split in three. Twinbrook is a republican stronghold and Provisional IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands lived in the area.
Under current proposals for the restructuring of local government in Northern Ireland, an expanded Twinbrook ward is to become part of Belfast city council.
