Gordon Cooper, born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, was one of the seven original astronauts in Project Mercury, the first manned-space effort by the United States.

Student organizations

Student Organizations play a vital role in the success of Oklahoma's CareerTech students. CTSO's provide leadership and growth opportunities outside of the classroom.

The National Technical Honor Society has an active chapter on this campus.
