Evangelos Kofos, a native of Edessa, Macedonia, Greece, has been involved with the history and politics of the Balkans and Macedonia in particular, since his graduate studies in the late 1950s.

His academic titles include degrees from Ohio University, Georgetown University, and a Ph.D. in history from London University. Dr Kofos is a member of several academic societies and served for many years as Special Counsellor on Balkan affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens.
