WHAT is a commercial radio station located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, broadcasting on 1340 AM. WHAT currently airs an all "Martini Lounge" music format that initially began with a month of Frank Sinatra's music.

WHAT flipped formats to the martini lounge format on August 31, 2007. According to their [http://martiniloungeradio.com/ website] The All-Sinatra format aired throughout the month of September. After September 30th, the station started an Adult Standards format featuring artists including Michael Buble, Harry Connick, Jr., Diana Krall and their format predecessors like Tony Bennett and Peggy Lee. Many have considered it the successor to WPEN's format from 1979 to 2004, even hiring former station DJs like Bob Craig and Mike Bowe.

From January 19, 2007 to August 31, 2007, amid WUBA-FM ("Rumba 104.5") becoming WRFF-FM ("Radio 104.5"), WHAT aired a modern rock music format called "Skin Radio," which also played poetry readings. It was seen as a replacement to Y-100, which was a previous modern rock station in Philadelphia, though it was on FM.

Prior to that, WHAT aired an "urban talk" format marketed toward African Americans.

During the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s, the station carried a traditional R&B & Soul music format .

Skin Radio continues, but as an internet-only radio station. [http://www.skinradio.com skinradio.com]
