Komárom-Esztergom is the name of an administrative county (comitatus or megye) in northern Hungary, on the border with Slovakia. It shares borders with the Hungarian counties Győr-Moson-Sopron, Veszprém, Fejér and Pest. The capital of Komárom-Esztergom county is Tatabánya.

History

Komárom-Esztergom county was created after World War I from the Hungarian parts of the pre-1918 counties Komárom and Esztergom. The pre-1918 situation was temporarily restored during World War II. Between World War II and approx. 1990, the county was called Komárom county.
