Sculptural Ensemble of
Constantin Brâncuşifrom Târgu Jiuis an homage to the Romanian heroes of the First World War. The three sculptures — "The Table of Silence", "The Kiss Gate" and "The Endless Column" — are disposed on an axis 1275 m long, oriented West-East.
The Table of Silence" is made from limestone. Originally the twelve chairs were much closer to the table and were arranged in pairs.
The Kiss Gate" coord|45|2|18.07|N|23|16|9.79|E|display=inline, of Banpotoc travertine (marble), features a kiss motif on the gate pillars . The whole work is supported on a steel axle, set in a concrete foundation 5 square meters.
The Endless Column" coord|45|2|8.90|N|23|16|51.20|E|display=inline stacks 17 rhomboidal cast iron modules (formerly brassed) in a 29.3 m high column. The modules were made in the central workshop of Petroşani, assembled under the engineer Ştefan Georgescu-Gorjan, and completed October 27, 1938. The column was restored in 1964.
