Mohamed "Ahmed" Kanu (born July 5, 1968 in Freetown) is a retired Sierra Leonean football player. He used to play as centre-back or libero. He's the current national team coach of Sierra Leone national football team,[1] named the Leone Stars. He made his international debut for Sierra Leone in 1987 at the age of 19.

He used to play for his country,[2] but it remains unknown how many times Kanu actually did defend the colours of Sierra Leone.

Kanu also has Belgian nationality since 2002.

During his five year stay at Cercle Brugge, Kanu was twice voted the best player of the season by the fans, winning the Pop Poll in 2000 and 2003.[3]
