1995–96 in Dutch football

1995–96 in Dutch football

The 1995/96 season in Dutch football saw holders Ajax Amsterdam winning the title in the Eredivisie once again, while PSV Eindhoven won the Dutch National Cup. Starting from this season a victory yields three points instead of two.

Super Cup

Since 1991 the annual opening of the new football (soccer) season is played between the reigning champions and the Cup Winners of the previous season. The Cup was named PTT Telecom Cup for three years (1991-1993), then Super Cup and since 1996 the trophy played for is officially called the "Johan Cruijff Schaal", named after Dutch football legend Johan Cruijff.
