Having experienced personal shopping disappoint within the category due to the impersonal, pre-packaged nature of gift basket offerings by retailers. The company’s name came about to properly communicate the gift-giving experience that would be offered.

The idea to start the company came in 2003 in response to feedback Carrie received from her co-workers about her knack to create such personalized gifts, always structured around a basket, for events such as wedding and Baby showers. This feedback gave life to an idea to create an online business with her husband Tim, a veteran web marketer who was an executive within the internet department of Office Depot. With a simple investment of $15,000, the company has seen unprecedented sales growth that led it to be an industry leader in less than 2 years.

The company selects, packs, and ships each gift from its facility with personal and professional care, refusing to rely on a network of unknown businesses or dropshippers. In 2006, Warm Sentiments began offering a private-label line of gift baskets for dropship and has partnered with numerous major online retailers. Warm Sentiments competes with companies like Dean & DeLuca and Harry and David.
