History

The former building of the Ungvar (Uzhhorod) Railway Station (was renovated and has become the suburban rail terminal in 2004) was built in the early years of the 20 century. In the late 1970s, the Soviet Government decided to build a new building for the station prior the 1980 Olympic Games. But the project was never done. In 2002, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers decided to build a new big and modern Rail Terminal. The works began in 2003.

In October, 2004 the Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and the Uzhhorod city mayor Viktor Pohorelov opened the new Rail Complex to the public.
