Women in Jazz

"Women in Jazz" is a lecture and concert presented by jazz singer and composer Joan Cartwright, that chronicles the lives of women who wrote and performed jazz music, including Lil Hardin Armstrong, Mary Lou Williams, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Marian McPartland, Carmen McRae, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughn, Dorothy Donegan, Melba Liston, Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter, Shirley Horn, Tania Maria and Toshiko Akiyoshi. Cartwright has presented this lecture for 10 years from South Florida to Tokyo.
