Fred Cobain, MBE is a Northern Irish Unionist politician and Member of the Northern Irish Legislative Assembly.

Cobain was first elected to Belfast City Council in 1985. He served as Lord Mayor of Belfast in 1990-1991. He has been a Ulster Unionist Party Northern Ireland Assembly Member for North Belfast since 1998. [ [ N.I. Assembly website] ] Cobain is Chair of the Assembly's Committee for Social Development.

Cobain has served two terms on the Northern Ireland Policing Board [ [ Northern Ireland Policing Board website] ]

On 29 December 2007 he was named MBE in the New Year Honours 2008.


He is married and has two children.
