Boothstown is a small town on the boundary between the metropolitan districts of Salford and Wigan, in Greater Manchester, England.

Once known for its mining community, Boothstown is now a mainly residential area. It lies convert|6.8|mi|km|1 northwest of Salford, convert|9.8|mi|km|1 northwest of Manchester and convert|10|mi|km|1 southeast of Wigan.

In the local area: to the west is Astley, to the north is Walkden, to the east is Worsley with an important transport interchange between the M60, M62 & M602 motorways.

To the north of Boothstown is the East Lancashire Road (A580), which links Manchester to Liverpool.

Despite its relative closeness to Manchester, and seeming attractiveness as a commuter town, there is a very apparent feeling amongst local residents that successive governments and local councils have failed to develop and implement any kind of integrated transport policy, causing Boothstown to become a major bottleneck during peak travel times.Fact|date=March 2008 The possible reasons are twofold. Firstly, many people who live in Boothstown drive to work. Secondly, many other people choose to drive through Boothstown, further adding traffic volume to a near-capacity road network. Commuting the 12 miles into Manchester city centre takes up to 90 minutes on most days.Fact|date=March 2008 This congestion appears to be relieved slightly during the summer school holiday period.Fact|date=March 2008

There is currently a proposal being made about the possibility of having a racecourse built at the south of Boothstown running through to Worsley.
