Electoral district of Keilor

The Electoral district of Keilor is a metropolitan electorate approximately 15 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, Australia in Victoria's Legislative Assembly.

The Keilor District covers an area of 70 square kilometres, including the suburbs of Hillside, Keilor Downs, Keilor Lodge, Taylors Hill and Sydenham and parts of the suburbs of Caroline Springs, Keilor and Plumpton.

The district boundaries include Holden Road for part of the north, the Maribyrnong River for part of the east, Taylors Road in the south, and Plumpton Road in the west.

It is part of the Upper House Western Metropolitan Region.

Electoral history

George Seitz (Labor) was elected as Member for Keilor in 1982 and was re-elected in 1985, 1988, 1992, 2002 and 2006.

2002 Election results

George Seitz won after receiving 63.37% of the primary vote and 68.04% of the two candidate preferred vote during the 2002 Victorian State Election. Darren Buller (Liberal) and Steve Nosal (Australian Greens) polled 29.04% and 7.59% respectively.

2006 Election results

George Seitz won after receiving 58.45% of the primary vote and 69.41% of the two candidate preferred vote during the 2006 Victorian State Election. John Clifford (Liberal) polled 24.89%.
