Jamshid bin Abdullah of Zanzibar

Jamshid bin Abdullah of Zanzibar

Sayyid Sir Jamshid bin Abdullah Al Said GCMG, ( _ar. جمشيد بن عبد الله) (born September 16, 1929 in Zanzibar) was the last Arab Sultan of Zanzibar. He ruled Zanzibar from July 1, 1963 to January 12, 1964. On December 19, 1963, Zanzibar received its independence from the United Kingdom as a constitutional monarchy under Jamshid. This state of affairs was short-lived, and in January 1964, he was overthrown during the Zanzibar revolution. Jamshid was ordered by the revolution leader John Okello to commit suicide, but he managed to flee to Great Britain with his family and ministers where he travelled around England from hotels to hotels living as stateless person. He is currently married to Zuleikha bint Abdullah Al Aufy.

Jamshid has seven children:
*Prince Sayyid Ali bin Jamshid Al Said
*Prince Sayyid Khalifa bin Jamshid Said

*Prince Sayyid Abdullah bin Jamshid Al Said
*Prince Sayyid Wasfi bin Jamshid Al Said (1972-)
