Augustus Jackson

Augustus Jackson was the inventor of modern ice cream manufacture. Born on April 16, 1808, he is sometimes noted as "The Father of Ice Cream". Augustus was a candy confectioner from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the U.S. who created several ice cream recipes and invented an improved method of manufacturing ice cream. Augustus Jackson was the head chef in the White House from roughly 1820-30,Fact|date=March 2008. During this time he developed several new flavors of ice cream, around the year 1832.Fact|date=March 2008 Later he resigned, returning to Philadelphia to improve ice cream and his new flavors, becoming very well-known for his famous ice cream.
