Doftana prison

Doftana prison

Doftana was a Romanian prison. Built in 1895, it was used in the 1930s to detain political prisoners, among them the future president Nicolae Ceauşescu. It is situated close to the village with the same name, in the Telega commune. During the communist regime of Romania, it was transformed into a museum, which has since been deserted due to lack of funds.[citation needed]
