Langepas

Langepas ( _ru. Лангепас) is a town in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia, located on the Kayukovskaya River 15 km north of the right bank of the Ob River, km to mi|545 east of Khanty-Mansiysk, and km to mi|875 north-east of Tyumen. Population: 40,800 (2006 est.); ru-census|p2002=37,182|p1989=25,618

Langepas means "squirrel channel" in the Khanty language. It was granted town status in 1985. Economy of the town is based on oil and natural gas extraction.
