Zoltan Paulinyi (Belo Horizonte - Brazil, 1977), Brazilian composer, modern and baroque violinist, one of the founders of Musicoop String Orchestra (1995). After undergraduating in Physics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1999), he started to dedicate his life to music, both in performance and teaching. He moved to Brasília in 2000 in order to assume his first violin position in the [http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orquestra_Sinfônica_do_Teatro_Nacional_Claudio_Santoro National Symphony Orchestra (OSTNCS)] , where he started to compose his major works.

He has played as soloist since 1987, aged 10, and as spalla in Festival Orchestras of Brasília (1998) and Juiz de Fora (1996). Founder of many chamber groups, including Duo Magyar (1994), Quinteto Amizade (2003), Grupo Sonare (2005) and Grupo SPES (2006). With SPES, he produced a turné in Europe in 2008, premiering his piano trio in Béjar, Madrid, Paris, Budapest and London.

Paulinyi produces festivals in Brasília since 2002. Currently he is artistic director for International Early Music Festival in Araripe, and SPES International Contemporary Music Series in Brasília, both for 2009.

tudies

Zoltan Paulinyi was pupil of violinists Ricardo Giannetti (for 15 years), Ruggiero Ricci, Leopold La Fosse, among others. Studied baroque violin with Manfred Kraemer, Michaela Comberti, Luis Otavio Santos. Learned composition with Oiliam Lanna (for 5 years), Oscar Edelstein, and small courses with Harry Crowl and Bochman.

He met many teachers at International Festivals and masterclasses in Juiz de Fora, Brasília e Curitiba, as well as in England (Dartington, Aberystwith) and Sweden (Stockholm).

* Imagens (2008): CD+CDROM with solo works for violin and viola pomposa by Harry Crowl and himself. Some chamber works included.
* Quinteto Amizade (2005): CD+CDROM plays original works by Glazunov (first recording of his "Oriental Reverie"), Arthur Bosmans (first recording of his "3 Epigramas") and the clarinet quintet of Weber.
* Duo Magyar: Rabeca Moderna (2002) - Brazilian repertoire for violin duo with compositions of Ernst Mahle, Sérgio Nogueira, Felippe Maravalhas, Zoltan Paulinyi and Ernani Aguiar.
