Nathaniel Chisholm

Dr. Nathaniel Chisholm (born July 22, 1963, Tuskegee, Alabama) is an American engineer known for fundamental research into nano materials and structural nanocomposites.

He is currently Deputy Director of Engineering and Production for DeKalb County Roads & Drainage Division Public Works.

Contents

Research

His work includes the development of SiC nanophased carbon epoxy composite materials which could be used for space vehicles and structural grade components for advanced aircraft. His landmark research Synthesis, Manufacturing, and Characterization of Nano-Phased Carbon/Epoxy Composites,[1] is widely referenced and considered one of the most definitive publications on the subject of composite materials.

Society memberships and awards

He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and serves as the Vice President of Metro Atlanta American Public Works Association (APWA). In 1999-2005, he was awarded fellowship from the National Science Foundation and in 2004 received an award from the Scientific Research Society (Sigma Xi) for achievements in the field of Material Science and Engineering.
