The Park School, founded in 1888 as Miss Pierce's School, is an independent school located in Brookline, Massachusetts, U.S. Park provides education for children from nursery to 9th grade. The current headmaster is Jerrold I. Katz.

Schedule

The typical day (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) at The Park School begins with a morning gathering, referred to as Morning Meeting, at 8:15. This is for students in grades 4-9 and is meant for announcements and skits. After this, at around 8:30, they proceed to first period classes, followed by second period, break, third period, fourth period, lunch/recess, fifth period,sixth period, and TEACH period, a time for children to get help or enrichment from their academic teachers or simply do homework. Dismissal follows sixth period at around 3:00.

On Tuesday the schedule is different from the other days. Classes start immediately at 8:15, testing the students' responsibility to be on time to class by themselves. Following 1st period, there is second and third period, which is followed by break. Afterwards, there are periods four and five, and then a time for advisory lunch and recess. Afterwards, there is one final period before the day ends at 2:00. There are no extracurricular activities on Tuesdays. The time after 2:00 on Tuesdays is generally used by the faculty for meetings.

Courses

For Nursery-5th grade, the lower school, the day and all its are planned by the administrators, giving the students very little, if any, say in what they'll be doing for the year. In sixth grade, nominally different levels of math begin, as do the language courses (Spanish, French, and Latin are offered). Those follow four year tracks. Seventh grade is largely the same, except that English and Social Studies, are finally split into separate classes. In Eighth Grade, science courses are divided into different levels based solely on math placement. In the Ninth Grade, which only a few students stay for, the tracks are wrapped up, and the remaining students prepare for sophomore year in high school.

Extracurricular activities

Park offers three seasons of sports, as well as three seasons of theater production, that students may participate in.

Sports include Soccer, Field Hockey, Cross Country, Wrestling, Basketball, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, and Track and Field.

Theater choices change term to term and include both modern and classical theater, with a musical in the winter term.

Construction

The Park School is currently in the process of building an addition to better accommodate the 4th and 5th grades, and to satisfy the requirements to be reaccredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE).
