James Street (born April 9, 1948 in Longview, Texas) was an American football quarterback. He played college football at the University of Texas at Austin from 1966-1969. He engineered the Longhorns' wishbone offense from the third game of the 1968 season through the 1969 season, including the 1970 Cotton Bowl.

He was undefeated as a starting quarterback and in his senior campaign led the Longhorns to the national championship, beating Arkansas in the "Game of the Century" and Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl. Street played under coach Darrell Royal. He was also a right-handed pitcher on the Longhorns baseball team. Street tossed two no-hitters in helping lead the Longhorns to two Southwest Conference titles.

James Street is the father of Oakland A's pitcher, Huston Street. He still lives in Austin, Texas, and has four other sons. [ [http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sports/stories/longhorns/01/1streets.html James Street's championship legacy ] ]
