- Labour voucher
Labour vouchers (also known as labour cheques, labour certificates, and labour-time vouchers) are a device proposed to govern
demandfor goods in socialism, much as moneydoes under capitalism.
Labour vouchers were first proposed in
1820by Robert Owen. They were later advocated by Karl Marxin 1875 as a way of dealing with any immediate and temporary shortages upon the establishment of socialism. In Marx's proposal, socialist society would reward its citizens according to the amount of labor they contribute to society.
