Rising Sun Performance Company is an American theatre company in the Off-Off-Broadway community that is establishing a reputation for their talented ensemble of writers, directors, and actors featuring a strong selection of original works balanced by revivals of off-beat published works. Rising Sun brought New York City the acclaimed revivals of "An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein" & "The Shape of Things" which was nominated for two New York Innovative Theatre Awards [http://www.nyitawards.com/anr/2005honorees.asp 2005 Nominees and Recipients - New York Innovative Theatre Awards] ] and most recently the critically acclaimed smash hit "Hellcab" which played for 10 weeks to sold out audiences. They are also the producers of the annual Aristophanes festival formerly in Central Park which has featured Jason Tyne's adaptations of "Lysistrata" and "The Frogs". Current Shows

"Two Minds, Two Worlds, One Subway Platform", "A’Spress" by Adam Purvis and directed by Akia (assistanted by Nicolette Callaway) features the ensemble of the Rising Sun Performance Company answers the question "How long can the most unlikely of friendships survive in the streets?" It is a workshop Production with only six performances set in the stark landscape of the New York City Subway. A‘Spress is the story of two unlikely companions struggling to survive, one with a guilt ridden conscience and dark past, the other living in a world that few can comprehend.
