Ryazan Alexandrovo (also given as Aleksandrovo and Protasovo) is an air base in
Ryazan Oblast, Russialocated km to mi|19 southeast of Ryazan. It was probably an attack aircraft base during the Cold War. During the 1990s, it housed Mi-8and Mi-24aircraft of the Russian Air Force. However, Google Earthhigh-resolution images accessed in 2006 show the airfield is vacated; no aircraft are seen.
Russian websites show the base is now home to the 86th Reserve Helicopter Base of the 16th Air Army under the
Special Purpose Commandof the Russian Air Force. 72 Mi-24s and 66 Mi-8s, plus 140 personnel, reportly comprise the base.
