Heartsease is a small settlement or hamlet in the Welsh district of
Radnorand part of the county of Powys. It is close to the border with Englandand lies near the junction of the two counties of Herefordshireand Shropshire.
Historically, it was part of the Parish of
Stanage. For historical population figures see [http://history.powys.org.uk/school1/knighton/stanpop.shtml Powys History Project] . The hamlet lies on the A4113 roadbetween Knighton and Ludlowand is just a few hundred metres from the River Teme.
A romantic legend attributes the name to a comment made by
Owain Glyndŵrwhose heart was set at ease when he glimpsed Walesupon returning from England.
More recently, the television programme
Tom Sharpe's " Blott on the Landscape" was filmed at nearby Stanage Park.
Today the settlement is best known as the home of Radnor Hills, a business bottling local
