Grant Norsworthy

born wife, Brooke and their cat, Princess Buttercup. In April 2007 Grant and Brooke had Maxwell Leigh Norsworthy. As of April 2008, Grant has left Sonicflood to use his new found talents of preaching and speaking. He has appropriately named his new combination of skills "Word and Song" [http://www.myspace.com/grantnorsworthywordandsong] . He currently travels the U.S with his wife and son, talking to youth groups, inspiring them to cultivate a deeper relationship with God.

Religion

Grant grew up in a Christian home and although he prayed a prayer of commitment as a five-year-old, he recommitted his life at age 13 whilst on a camp. Grant made a public declaration of his faith in Jesus at age 18 when he was baptised. Grant states that he "discovered God's amazing grace for the first time only a handful of years ago. Throughout my life, and even today, I become aware of areas of my life that I have not yet fully surrendered to Jesus." Grant is currently based in Nashville TN and a spokesperson for Compassion International.

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Grant relocated to Nashville, TN in early 2002 with the Aussie band Paul Colman Trio (pc3). After extensive US and international touring and achieving significant chart success with pc3, Norsworthy transitioned to be the bassist of choice for many of today’s top Christian Contemporary artists including three years with million-selling, groundbreaking ‘worship rockers’ SONICFLOOd. But it turns out that Grant Norsworthy has much more important things to say than what can be communicated through the bass notes of someone else’s music. On contemporary worship in America, Norsworthy elucidates: “I believe I have a message to deliver to the church that may challenge people's understanding of what worship is; and, equally importantly, what worship isn't. It might sound strange coming from a former member of SONICFLOOd - a band known as being a worship band singing worship songs - but I am convinced that worship is not a type of band, or a type of song, or even the experience we get when we sing love songs to God. The way we tend to use the word ‘worship’ within our Christian culture seems to indicate that we have a much smaller, misleading and even false idea of what worship truly is and how it should be expressed. Worship, I believe, is my life when it is poured out - given away - in response to the cross. I draw listeners to consider Bible passages such as , , and Matthew 25 with a fresh perspective and an invitation to consider the much wider,deeper, practical, wonderfully mysterious and all pervading nature of true worship.”

An outspoken advocate for Compassion International, Norsworthy openly seeks opportunities to gather support for their work. “I have seen Compassion in action in Thailand first hand and know many of their workers personally. I am passionate about what they do and how they do it; especially because it aligns so well with my understanding of how pure and perfect worship isexpressed. I'm excited about representing Compassion and supporting their efforts. Through word and song, I will be seeking to do just that wherever possible.”
