Universidad Torcuato Di Tella

The Torcuato di Tella University (Castilian: "Universidad Torcuato di Tella") is a non-profit private university founded in 1991. Located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it has an undergraduate enrollment of 1,100 and graduate enrollment of 600. The university is focused primarily on social sciences. The undergraduates majors available are Economics, Business Administration, Law, Political Science, International Relations, History and recently, Architecture. UTDT also offers 28 graduate programs, among them one of the best MBAs in Latin America.

The faculty comprises 56 full time professors, most of them graduate students and visiting scholars in universities abroad. The university provides more than 50 exchange programs with universities in Europe, United States and Asia. There is also a sizable number of international students that study in the University for a semester or two. Although economic problems have delayed the needed expansion of the campus, the university is currently moving to a new building which will allow further growth in the number of students and majors. The university's dean is currently Dr. Juan Pablo Nicolini.

The concept of a university of the highest international standards was developed by the university’s first dean, Gerardo della Paolera and the then Argentine ambassador to the United States, Guido Di Tella. Their plan was to create a research based university with small class sizes and professors with international studies and recognition. They decided to adopt an American university model.

Universidad Torcuato Di Tella was founded in 1991, with the mission of educating new generations of academics, and business, social and political leaders. It began offering undergraduate studies in economics, but has since expanded and started offering undergraduate courses in business economics, political sciences, international studies, law, history, and, since 2007, architecture, as well as numerous graduate degrees.

It was founded by the Torcuato Di Tella Foundation, making use of the experience and resources of the Torcuato Di Tella Institute, a non-profit institute founded in 1958 to promote a high level of study and research in the interest of the scientific, cultural and artistic development of Argentina.

Gerardo della Paolera was dean of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella from its foundation until 2001, when he was replaced by the current dean, Juan Pablo Nicolini.
