Peter V of Aragon

Peter V of Aragon

Peter V of Aragon (IV of Barcelona) (1429–1466), Constable of Portugal and Grand Master of the Order of Aviz.

He was son of Pedro, Duke of Coimbra and Isabella of Aragon, Countess of Urgel. Thus his paternal grandparents were King John I of Portugal and Philippa of Lancaster, and maternal ones were James II, Count of Urgel (grandson of James I, Count of Urgell) and Isabel of Aragon (daughter of King Peter IV of Aragon).

During the War Against John II, between 1463 and 1466 Peter was King of Aragon and Count of Barcelona.

Note that Peter V did not reign in Valencia, which remained under the control of John II.
