Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 1 (CCL1) is a small glycoprotein secreted by activated T cells that belongs to a family inflammatory cytokines known as chemokines. [Miller and Krangel. The Human Cytokine I-309 is a Monocyte Chemoattractant. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1992, Vol 89, 2950-2954. ] CCL1 attracts monocytes, NK cells, and immature B cells and dendritic cells by interacting with a cell surface chemokine receptor called CCR8. [Roos et al., Identification of CCR8, the receptor for the human CC chemokine I-309. J Biol Chem 1997 Vol 272, 17251–4. ] This chemokine resides in a large cluster of CC chemokines on human chromosome 17.
