The Nihongo|Tama Toshi Monorail Line|多摩都市モノレール線|Tamatoshi Monorēru-sen, also referred to as the Tama Monorail, is an important part of the Western Tokyo public transport network.

Operated by Tokyo Tama Intercity Monorail Co., Ltd., the double tracked, 16 kilometer monorail line carries passengers between Higashi Yamato and Tama in 36 minutes. Opened in 1998 from Kamikitadai to Tachikawa-Kita, the line was extended in 2000 to Tama-Center. Large deficits have caused the corporation to become insolvent. [According to the [http://www.tama-monorail.co.jp/outline/settlement(20).html official settlement report] on March 31, 2006, its asset is 20.5 billion yen, while its accumulated income (or rather, liability) is -22.8 billion yen, meaning the latter exceeds the former by 2.2 billion yen. In other words, the company is now in insolvency. This does not mean, however, the company is already bankrupt.]

Tachikawa-Kita (=North) and Tachikawa-Minami (=South) are the most important stations, enabling transfer to the JR East Chūō Main Line and Tama-Center transfer to Odakyu or Keio Railways.
