Quiz and Knowledge Bowl

Coached by John Severson, the Simley Quiz and Knowledge Bowl teams have emerged as a state power in 2007-08, not only winning the Classic Suburban Conference championship for the first time ever (and in overwhelming fashion), but also capturing 2nd place at the premier St. Anthony Knowledge Bowl Kick-Off. The team also has a Playoff Participant award from the State NAQT tournament, an 11-1 record in the East Region for Quiz Bowl, and an overall 5th Place ranking in the Metro Knowledge Bowl league.
Confirmed at the 2008 winter pep fest, the team will be heading to Chicago to compete in the NAQT National Tournament.
Most recently, the Knowledge Bowl team traveled to Cragun's Resort in Brainerd to compete in the State Knowledge Bowl tournament. Overcoming a written round that placed them in 12th out of 24 teams, the boys bounced back in the first two rounds with scores of 16 and 24 (24 being an assumed State Tourney record, unheard for such a competition) to briefly grab hold of the first place position. Fighting off state powerhouses Eden Prairie and Prior Lake, Simley stayed in the highest room of competition all tournament, holding off a late St. Anthony Village charge to take 3rd place in State, quite the improvement, considering they were only 5th in their region alone!
Other results:
Classic Suburban Runners-Up: 2004, 2007
Classic Suburban Champions: 2008
St. Anthony Kick-Off 2nd Place: 2007
State NAQT Playoffs: 2007, 2008
Special Awards: Outstanding Arts & Lit award at the 2006 St. Anthony Kick-Off
3rd Place 2008 Knowledge Bowl State Tournament!
