Tommy Harris (rugby league)

Tommy Harris (rugby league)

Thomas Percival Harris (1927 - September 27, 2006), nicknamed "Bomber", was a Welsh sports personality. He played the most test matches for Great Britain of any hooker.

Harris was born at Crumlin in Monmouthshire, and played rugby union until 1949 when he turned professional and joined Hull RLFC as a rugby league player. He played over 400 games for the club, in the position of hooker, up to his retirement in 1962, when he became a coach of York RLFC.

He played international matches for Wales and Great Britain, and at the 1960 Challenge Cup final he was awarded the Lance Todd Trophy, despite being on the losing team.

Harris was a director of York Rugby League Football Club from 1966 until 1987.
